This is great news for publishers having Adsense account and earning some descent cash from Adsense for content. For Adsense publishers Google launched Video unit feature officially today. Previously Adsense was available in Text and Image AD format.
Adsense for video will be a good option for monetizing video content on your site. You can put YouTube partner video’s on your site with some code embedded which will display relevant Ads on your video content.
Video Ads are available in two formats:
- Text overlay ads, which are displayed in the bottom 20% of the video as it plays
- Companion ads, which appear above the video content within the player
The ads displayed can be either contextually targeted or site-targeted, and may be paid on either a cost-per-click or cost-per-thousand impressions basis.
To get started you need to have YouTube account linked with your Adsense account. Currently only one video unit is allowed per page.
Here is the procedure to place Adsense Video Ads on your web pages:
- Sign up to your Google Adsense account.
- Click “Adsense Setup-> Video units”
- You will be redirected to YouTube page. Here you need to configure video settings like player color and layout.
- Select the content to be displayed in this player: Automated content that’s automatically targeted to your site, or content from specific categories or providers.
- Generate the code and paste this code into your HTML page where you want to display video content.
That’s it and see the reports in your Adsense account.
