Adsense Optimization

Adsense Optimization

When you first considered using Google Adsense how did you place your ads? Did you, like me, pick some ads that looked good, adjust the colour to your site and place them where they fit on your site. If so then the chances are these are not optimized. So how do we optimize our site for Adsense?

Google Adsense provides the answer to this. In their help files they provide details on where on the screen gets the highest click through, the best colours to use, which ad formats work best. They also have details on optimizing forums and blogs too.

If you really want to succeed with Google Adsense you should probably consider redesigning your site to fix the best performing Adsense blocks, rather than selecting the adsense blocks to fit the available space on your site.

Make Money from Adsense - Complete Guide

We will be focusing on adsense from now on:

First off you need to get approved in adsense, for this I suggest you to make a blogger blog, and submit it to adsense for getting approval. Blogger blogs gets approved in adsense quickly. 5 to 10 articles in a blog will be good enough to get you approved. Once you get approved, just forget that blog as it is not going to make you rich by any way. For more details on this, please check this article - Guide to get approved in adsense.

Part1: Choosing a Niche:

Niche – Topic/subject/category
The most important part of adsense is to choose a profitable niche. A good niche is one that has less competition and more searches. So, that means more people are searching about that particular topic and there are few websites competing on the term. So, you can rank highly on such a term and start getting a lot of visitors without working that hard. Also, you will have to check that there is enough advertiser competition for that niche or not.

Here is a quick tip to find a good niche. ‘Cars’ could be a good niche; ‘Mercedes car’ could be a more targeted niche. Here just ask yourself, can you come on top of the serps for this keyword, like “Mercedes car” In my honest opinion, chasing such competitive terms is just a waste of time. Rather try to rank good for some less competitive words like, “car breakdown service” or “heavy duty truck breakdown services” which will be a lot easier.
[Note: the above keywords are just examples, they are not highly searched.]

When you choose your domain, the niche is very important. Forget about brandable domain; rather choose something that has all the keywords in it. If “African white elephant” is a keyword then you should try to get a domain like, Africanwhiteelephant.com or African-white-elephant.com, rather than a domain which dose not have these keywords in it.

For keywords research, I suggest these tools:
tools.seobook.com/keyword-tools/seobook/index.php
inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion

For checking advertisement competition you can try this tool, you can also use this to do keyword research. The more the advertisement competition, the better it is, as more ads and less websites means more money per click.
adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

Make sure that the niche you are selecting has some traffic, and then go to google.com and make a search on that keyword on which you are setting up your website. If the niche has too much of competition, then leave it. Remember every niche will have some competition, so try to have a niche that has just enough competition that you can compete on. Also, try to find at least 50+ keywords on your niche. A keyword is something like, “heavy duty truck breakdown services” but remember, if the keyword is, “breakdown services duty truck heavy” then just forget that keyword, if you re-arrange that keyword it won’t bring you any traffic. And if you use such a jumble keyword in your article title or content, then search engines can simply ban your site or penalize you, or ban you from adsense. So, if you find keywords like those just ignore them. Try to find 4 to 5 words long keywords that make sense. This is called long-tail keywords, and it dose work. Will talk about this more in a later part of this article.

Part 2: Choosing hosting:

[Note: some people might find this section stupid, am one of them.]

For hosting I suggest Godaddy, all it takes is $4 a month, and gives about 10 GB of space and 300 GB of data transfer. Am hosting most of my sites with godaddy, and am pretty much satisfied by their service. Get a Linux hosting, comes with 10 database free. Last time I told this to a friend of mine, he said that he has window XP in his computer. Don’t worry about it, you don’t have to know about Linux and it dose not matters what OS you have in your computer.

Part 3: Choosing a script for making your website:

This is the most important part of this article. A good script can help you a lot, and a regular free script won’t take you any further. Lets talk here a bit,

Take the example of a local retailer. Say he has a commodity, which costs $4. When he sells that, he earns 10 to 50 cents on it. Take any example of an off line business, at max you can earn 40% to 50% on it. If he sells his product for $8 then he can make a profit of 100%, but there is always a MRP that says you can’t sell for a price so high, and thus you have a limitation of profits.

Now lets take one of my sites as an example, say I have a site that costs me $4 a month to run. And it has about 20 to 50 visitors a month. All my sites till now generated at least that much visitors from the first month, and it just keep increasing. So from 20-50 visitors I make $2 to $5 a day. So, I roughly make $120 a month from a site that costs $4 a month to run. That’s about 30 times profit, in other words 3000% profits. So if you plan to make such big profits, I do suggest you to use an adsense optimized script. And this is the reason why I created an adsense-optimized script. For more details on this, go here - article directory script

I was not happy with the same old blogs, the same type of columns, the same type of layout, people have become used to those, and now they just ignore them. This is the reason why I spent so much money and created such a script, but hey it just costs $25 per website.

Anyways, if you don’t have the money to buy that script, then you can try some free alternatives.

Part 4: Getting content for your website:

In the niche section, part 1 of this ebook, I have talked about keywords. If you have those 50+ keywords on your niche, your work will be lot easier. Those keywords must be related to your website/niche directly. Those keywords are the titles of your articles. Use that exact keyword as your article title, and write an article on it, then use that keyword once, in your article body and article description, just once. If you have like 50+ keyword rich articles, you can expect a lot of traffic coming from the search engines. Not just google, my niche sites gets traffic coming from, google.com, msn/live, aol, yahoo etc. and search engine visitors are the best kind of visitors.

Don’t add adsense codes to your website yet, have patience, and wait for the right time.

Am adding up a small little sub-section here to optimize your website:

Feedburner: here is a little feedburner guide:

If you use our script for making your website, then you will find a small little button that says, “RSS” in red. Click on that, that’s your website’s feed URL. Then go to feedburner.com and configure your feeds.
feedburner homepage

Once you configure your feed, you can copy the codes in your website and it will look something like this:

feeds website configuration

You can also put register in the feeds option at the end of your articles:

feeds subscription article bottom

Then go to My blog log, and set up a community there and put the codes in your website, and it will look something like this:

recent readers

The above site is http://technascent.com/ and it is running on our open article submission script. If you use this script then you can ask for any help regarding SEO or adsense to me anytime, I will try my best to help you all the time. Feel free to contact me from my website: http://openarticlesubmission.com/

Part 5: Traffic, Serps, SEO:

Before coming to this part, lets see what we have completed till now,
So we have a website, along with the hosting space.
We do have a script, hopefully open article submission, adsense optimized script.
The website has all the articles on it, so practically the website is already running and live.

Now the SEO: You don’t require to do huge SEO for this, do exactly as I say.
1) Social bookmarking: This will get your site indexed in the search engines too with this method. Since these social bookmarking sites have good authority in search engines, so the backlinks will be useful too. If you have the time and can take the effort, then go to google and search for “list of social bookmarking sites” or, “social bookmarks” etc. and you will get a hell lot of social websites. Now take a week off and register in each of those and submit your website, along with descriptions and keywords etc. It will save you lot of money, else you can take on some of these services, this one is mine, and it costs $6. It’s a bit expensive but has quality, as I have strong bookmarking profiles in the social websites. But you can search in google for such services and you will find a lot of cheap ones too.
2) Article marketing: here you signup on articles directories, and submit an article related to your website, and in the footer, “author resource box” put your website’s link. This is also a good way to increase link popularity. And yes, I do provide this service too, Am sure you must be thinking that am trying to market my service from this article, if you are thinking this then you are wrong, it’s just that I can’t stop myself from posting my website’s urls.
3) Free directory submission: Purchase featured links in free directories, that’s the fastest way to get into a free directory. You can also submit to new free directories as they accept websites quickly.

If you really want to do further seo then simply find blogs in your website’s nice and then contact the blogger. Then give the blogger an article, must be unique and good quality. Make sure the article is on your niche, and not on your website, just add one link in the article, that’s it. Even though I don’t suggest doing this as the first three steps is just enough. I can get your site to rank for any keyword that you want, it all depends on your budget, but spending hundreds of dollars on each website will cost you lots of money which is not a good idea as you want to earn easy money from adsense. Now try to create more websites, as this one is already ready!

Now is the time to use adsense codes. Just copy your adsense codes in your website and that’s it. Here is a small little guide to optimize your adsense ads, and you can read this article for a Guide.

Logon to your adsense control panel, and click on adsense setup:

1) Always use the bigger rectangles or the square ads, they are the best performing ads units.
2) The ads text and background color should be the same as your website’s text and background color.

optimised ads selection

Then you paste the code in your website:

easy copy paste ads pannel

When you complete, your ads should look something like this. The perfectly optimized ads.

Or square ads on article page along with top link unit.
